Press Kit - Monsters Don't Read
DECATUR, ILL. Bronze Man Books is pleased to announce the publication of "Monsters Don't Read," an illustrated children's book aimed at children who struggle with reading to show them how fun and interesting it can be.
In this book the main character, Monster, resists learning to read with the rest of his class because, "Monsters don't read, we don't know how. I will not read, not later, not now." He will not learn his ABC's, he will not spell C-A-T. But as the rest of his class enjoys the world of books, Monster begins to feel left out.
Originally written for a children's literacy class with Professor Christie Ferguson at Millikin University, author Heather Champion, also a second grade teacher, knows the difficulties that some students face when learning how to read. The book is illustrated by Chris Knudson, a recent graduate of Millikin University's prestigious graphic design program. He integrates an animation-style monster into photographs of school scenes common to elementary schools.
Monsters Don't Read is the third book in the Bronze Man Book's line of children's books. It is currently available for $12.00 plus $2.50 shipping. For more information on Monsters Don't Read visit <http://www.bronzemanbooks.com> or e-mail Randy Brooks at <rbrooks@millikin.edu>.
