Synopsis

Mathematics of Fire is a collection of 16 poems focusing on the struggle of 21st century Midwestern life. It blends the traditional with the contemporary, as well as religion, politics, and the social climate of Middle America.
Wild’s distinct poetic voice complements his unique perception of the world in poems such as "Cerulean Butterfly."
My God, the inspiration and the will
That brings you to the surfacing of bone.
The terror of a hand that can erase itself.
(Excerpt from "Cerulean Butterfly" published in Mathematics of Fire)
The poetry of Josh Wild is a glimpse into the mind of one who willingly struggles with every word for the sake of something unique. Sometimes aggressively political, other times curiously nostalgic, Wild senses the world around him and instinctively reacts with a variety of brave imagery and finely tuned storytelling.
Each individual chapbook is hand-sewn with four black and
white photographs inside. Each copy of Mathematics
of Fire was hand sewn by the staff of Bronze Man Books.
The company held a "Sew Fest" to sew all the chapbooks – view
photos of this event.

Carrie Seymour has long developed her strong interests in the observation and creation of art.
